Phase 1 Asking and Sharing, in the first phase of the intervention the child with autism (focus child) and peers are taught in small group structured games how to ask using the phrase, “Can I have it?” and how to share using the phrase, “Here you go.” -Practice the skill with the children by passing an object -Prompt the peers to remind the focus child to ask and share (i.e. “T, it’s your turn to say, Can I have it?”). -Provide positive feedback, “Nice Asking” “You shared with _____” -Use visual reinforcement charts to reinforce independence.
